Stefano Lubiana Wines Pty, Ltd
After searching Australia, fifth-generation winemaker Steve Lubiana selected Tasmania for his cool climate vineyard.
Overlooking the Derwent River at Granton, 20 km north of Hobart, Stefano Lubiana Wines remains a family owned and operated business, focused on producing small quantities of hand crafted, cool climate, Tasmanian wines.
First planted to Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in 1991, the vineyard has expanded over the years to 25ha of closely spaced vines. Our most recent additions comprise 7ha of Pinot Noir, established in 2010-2011.
Other varieties being grown on the site include Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Merlot and Nebbiolo.

Merlot? Mmmm ... it tastes so much like it sounds. Mellow.
Mellow, melt-in-your-mouth 'mer--loh.' That's why the wine world has become so merlot-mad during the past decade. It's just so downright user-friendly. In the drinkability stakes, merlot runs rings around its similar-flavoured red wine...

People often ask us, "What brought you to Tasmania, Steve and Monique?" "Couldn't you have stayed in South Australia and made your wines?" Well, maybe we could. The fact is that when you're on a long journey in search of perfection you just can't afford to get side-tracked or make any sort of...

Almost all Italian families love to plant grape vines - any variety, anywhere.
Looking back to 1990, when Monique and I first set foot on our small Granton property, I can clearly recall wondering what my Italian forebears would have made of this magical place with its north-facing slopes bathed...
